mwest1234 ::: Favorites 2007-08-12 21:24:58 Yes you have a choice, but please take the red pill! :) Freedom never lets you down. __________________________________________________
mwest1234 ::: Favorites 2007-08-12 21:23:35 I agree with you and boot. Change is constantly happening and remolding our lives. The most powerful changes I've made in my life have come from seeing precious moments of how people handle difficult circumstances with such grace and dignity, and I just want to be like them so much that it changes my moral compass when faced with similar events. __________________________________________________
mwest1234 ::: Favorites 2007-08-12 21:19:43 Thanks! I appreciate your kindness. Yes, I'd love to see your videos. Send some my way! __________________________________________________

bootstaple ::: Favorites 2007-08-12 19:54:11 I wouldn't change a word of that Rhonda, you said it perfectly! __________________________________________________
bootstaple ::: Favorites 2007-08-12 19:53:08 Hey Rhonda, humanity is changing, evolution has not stopped, no matter what some may think about it. Change comes through time & it doesn't always follow a positive path. As long as there are nice folk out there like yourself, who still want a better world, it's always possible. This is what I "believe". __________________________________________________
Rhonda9 ::: Favorites 2007-08-12 19:36:32 I think when people look at the big picture it can be overwhelming. We all make a difference one minute, one day, one week, one month, etc. at a time. We make a difference by being positive, even when the world around us has negative cues and tells us things are hopeless. We make a difference as freethinkers, no matter what stage of that freedom of thought entails. No one can dictate that (or should) to anyone. It has to be a free choice and an open door. __________________________________________________
Rhonda9 ::: Favorites 2007-08-12 19:35:51 I wonder if humanity will ever change. I think our basic nature will always remain the same and from what I can see, even in the 'information age,' people use selective reasoning in their lives. They will always be creatures of tradition. Education and personal introspection is what changes a person. One person who changes and shares their ideas can influence another person, even in the smallest way __________________________________________________
ClassicMusicVids ::: Favorites 2007-08-12 19:07:12 You are so damned smart, mwest1234. You make some real good points. And so does bootstaple. If ya'll want to be friends, let me know. You can see my latest videos! Yaay for you! __________________________________________________
bootstaple ::: Favorites 2007-08-12 18:08:33 Well said mwest1234! It's beyond interesting, it's quite revealing actually. It shows that their moral compass has been hijacked, a large bible shaped magnet won't let it do it's job. On the whole killing is not the problem, it's their sense of what is right & wrong by god. If "GOD" was so concerned about the foetus, he would've made all pregnancies 100% successful. So even if god exists, he doesn't care & we still need the conversation open. __________________________________________________
mwest1234 ::: Favorites 2007-08-12 17:35:53 It's interesting that the Bible didn't have the technological foresight to comment on abortion specifically. And that people have inserted an artifical assumption of what a god would want based on a general rule meant for adult murder (as found in the 10 commandments for example). But those same people have no problem commiting Presidentially- or militarily-commanded killing of wartime enemies. __________________________________________________
bootstaple ::: Favorites 2007-08-12 16:26:50 "paternalistic form of conscience", I think that's an excellent choice of words you use. People are basically good, but it isn't always clear what the right thing to do actually is. Take abortion, a most polarising topic. No matter what anyone thinks about abortion, it's an unfortunate reality. It does the subject no good when some argue that it is just wrong, nothing is just wrong. We need healthy, informed debate to understand the choices people make, so that we might make better ones. __________________________________________________
mwest1234 ::: Favorites 2007-08-12 15:31:15 Very complex ideas there boot! I think we're on the same page. We are responsible for what we decide to do, nobody else. And we live with our conscience, not a god. Could god be a cleverly masked surrogate for conscience? Yes, but a god would be more paternalistic form of conscience. E.g. you don't something because you imagine your parent scolding you. It's not really, then, your individual choice. More of a psychosis. Glad you like my lengthy thoughts! __________________________________________________ |
