Too many in this world suffer from what I will term the "BISNE TANE" effect--"Because I see no emissions, There are no emissions" and it's a fallacy. People love light rail because they don't see most of the fumes produced in making the infrastructure nor in maintaining it NOR in operating the machine NOR do they consider all the runs they make virtually empty. Too much of environmentalism is a scam and a placebo, an illusion fabricated out of marketing genious.

How much oil, coal, etc. does it take to manufacture, install, and maintain, a single wind turbine? How many resources/how much energy is/are consumed in the production, maintenance, and disposal/recycling of batteries for hybrids or electric cars?
I'm no buddy or friend to the petroleum industry, but I want to know why the environmental movements do not tell the whole story. If I'm going to do something to help the environment I'd like to be sure I'm helping more than hurting--

after seven years of watching the debate on this subject, we now see billion dollar oil companies driving the discussion on this subject. Check out greenenergytv dot com for over 300 videos that demonstrate the global commitment to sustainable economies. wind is used to run the air compressor project in Iowa and Texas; wind and water together to use the resources to drill deeper wells. google "solar tower" on video, to see a wind prototype for converting solar heat to wind

Sorry, in advance, for this. But why wind power? (sorry, this is one of my pet annoyances) Wind power, IMO is one of the most horrendous harmful placebos put upon us by environmentally minded people who simply (again-forgive me for this) just haven't done the math. The energy it takes to manufacture, install, maintain and connect windmill generators to the grid is NEVER recovered--it's a net loss. That means more energy is consumed than is ever taken from nature--to say nothing of the birds.
