Description: Effects test work in progress - part of a larger Harry Potter duel I'm creating. No background yet - I'm using a 3d track from some old footage I had lying around. Adobe After Effects with Trapcode's Particular plugin. The entire thing, bar post processes like glows and colouring, is 3D. |

VRBstudios3000 ::: Favorites 2008-01-06 12:57:33 check out mine, i found a way to do without trapcode plugin, not as realistic but it still came out amazing! __________________________________________________

dkp12020 ::: Favorites 2007-12-11 13:08:09 NICE! I really love the particles falling on the ground and staying there for a while! If you add some lens flares with the Directional Blur, it looks TOP! __________________________________________________
Flarth241897 ::: Favorites 2007-12-09 14:40:08 No, you're thinking of Prior Incantato __________________________________________________
mastermike7000 ::: Favorites 2007-12-04 16:22:20 lol, haven't read the books in a while, have you? Priori Incantantem, with an I at the end of Priori, is the effect when two brother wands connect, as shown at the end of Goblet of Fire when Harry duels Voldemort. You are thinking of Prior Incantantem, which is a simple spell to show the previous spell a wand cast, not the reverse spell effect caused when brother wands are forced to duel. __________________________________________________
imnew2 ::: Favorites 2007-12-04 16:03:23 dude prior incantatem i believe is to see what spell was the last that was used on the spell -.- you could name it avada kadavra vs stupefy or something lol imnew2 __________________________________________________

knightoftheforce ::: Favorites 2007-11-20 12:45:40 send me a tutorial! __________________________________________________
BenMcEwan ::: Favorites 2007-10-13 08:47:34 Hmm strange, I did it right the 1st time... but all it took was a quick restart of after effects and it now works =) Thanks mate __________________________________________________
mastermike7000 ::: Favorites 2007-10-13 07:54:40 I used a spotlight. Make sure you keyframe it to rotate in all three of its axes. You might also want to ensure that the emitter property in your Particular layer is set to "directional" or "bi-directional". __________________________________________________
BenMcEwan ::: Favorites 2007-10-13 07:32:47 Hmm, thats strange... I did that and its just a steady stream down... What sort of light did you use? A spotlight? and were there any other settings bar gravity you had to change? __________________________________________________
mastermike7000 ::: Favorites 2007-10-13 07:17:49 No expressions are used. Use The Wiggler box to keyframe your light to revolve quickly around its anchorpoint. And adjust it's cone. __________________________________________________
BenMcEwan ::: Favorites 2007-10-13 07:00:21 ok i tried this... As expected the particles emitted from the light, but they do not spray outwards (toward the position of interest im guessing). I assume you must have used an expression or something somewhere along the way... So if you could, can you please tell me how to do just that part? __________________________________________________ |
